Organised with friends in December 2021, Backspace is an immersive exhibition that takes the visitor on a journey into our protagonist's, X, journey through space and also a peek into his life back on earth. With story that spans over the past, present and the future, I contributed two works and also made prints as part of our event-exclusive merchandise.

Ideal

29.7cm x 42cm, digital media
an early draft from the 50s for the women in and out of their astronaut suits when they live in space. The mens' suits were never drafted
the piece touches on the idea of the socially ideal woman vs the woman's desire for empowerment. taken inspiration from the 50s and a play on retro futurism: where aspirations are a thing of the past and will never come to fruition
Tiresome
(but not in hindsight)
9:16 aspect ratio, 1:21 minutes
clips of mundane things took on earth that we often overlook and take for granted stitched together by X as part of his research on project BackSpace

this work serves as commentary on our mundane day to day lives to not only appreciate the world better and see it in a new light but to reflect on our parasitic relationship with the environment around us and the inevitability of our demise
