Sypnosis
A writer works tirelessly in the pursuit of perfection for his new book. When the journey ends up being more than he can handle, he is at risk of ending up in a vicious cycle of creation and destruction.
The film aims to explore the idea of walking the tightrope between ambition and folly, trying to discover how far we can go before the pursuit of excellence can lead to our own downfall.
The process and inspiration
As this was a group project, my friends and I wanted to make a film about artists for artists. We were also big fans of Whiplash and David Fincher's films and took major stylistic inspiration from them to combine it with our personal experiences. I was the primary director for the pre-production and production phase; writing the script, settling the art direction and also was the DOP during shoots. For post-production, I was in charge of making the poster and promoting the film throughout our school and planning the premiere for it (which we even invited our school's director for.)
